Digital Financial Literacy has helped many beneficiaries like Sabina Barla in changing business practices using digital tools.
Digital Empowerment Foundation is notably particular in bridging the aspirational gap by strengthening the underserved communities through financial integration. And the project Amazon DFI (Digital Financial Inclusion) is going a step further with its motive to digitally integrate those communities such that they are better equipped to deal with their finances.
To serve the needs of digitally unaware communities, the Amazon DFI program has started on the literacy aspect through the LMS-Chatbot that has been particularly designed to address the mission of the program, furthering the vision of Digital Empowerment Foundation (DEF).
Through the program, we are working with the youth and women entrepreneurs to provide better insights on how to utilize the services that are already available to them, given that they have access to a digital device like a mobile phone. The platform used, LMS-chatbot, for learning this content allows the flexibility of time and comfort of space. Through the LMS-Chatbot we are about to meet our target of reaching and educating 50500 beneficiaries consisting of 500 Master trainers, 40000 youths and 10000 women entrepreneurs from 18 States. Out of these, 50,257 beneficiaries have been able to achieve the intended target in terms of training. These beneficiaries are further exploring to improve their Digital and Financial Literacy making use of the content which has been made accessible through the LMS-Chatbot.
Sabina Barla is a 21 year old entrepreneur from Khunti District of Jharkhand. She runs a grocery business and showed interest in learning through LMS-Chatbot. Completion of courses under it has made her aware about the different aspects of Digital Financial Inclusion. She has applied her lessons by using services like online money transfer, Telegram app and also applied for a loan amount of 50,000 rupees to improve her business. Her story of evolving confidence, among many others, is a reflection of the intended outcome of changing the lifestyle and enhancing business practices of women entrepreneurs.
