The role of SoochnaPreneur can take multiple forms and the way these changemakers are chosen by DEF ensures that the community grows on multiple fronts driven by determination. Archana’s journey is one such example.
For a compassionate and passionate individual, every opportunity, small or big, is a huge playing field to get creative and work harder to make the best use of the circumstances, levelling the ground for the others to follow. Archana Tassa, a resident of Bukohalla Tea Estate in the Jorhat District of Assam, has made a remarkable impact in her community as a SoochnaPreneur. She has not only provided vital services such as governance and financial support to the people in her village, but also empowered them with digital literacy.
Through her initiative under the Skills to Succeed Project, supported by Accenture, Archana has been providing basic computer education to the students in her village who were previously unaware of the technology. As word of mouth spread, more and more students started attending her classes, and their confidence in using computers grew. Archana also connected her students with Digi Classes conducted by DEF, an online platform to learn Spoken English. This step proved to be a game-changer for the children, as they started framing small sentences in English with each other and their families.
Archana’s efforts have brought about a significant change in her community, empowering the youth with skills that will prove invaluable for their future. With increased access to digital technology, the students are now able to learn and explore the world beyond their village, opening up new avenues of opportunities for them.
Furthermore, Archana’s contribution has also helped her family financially. She is now able to support her father in running their small multipurpose store, and she is also saving to contribute to her sister’s wedding expenses. Her success as a SoochnaPreneur has not only made her family proud but has also inspired many young people in her village to follow her path and create a positive impact in their community.
