The Digital Sarthak project is aimed to strengthen and build the organisation and management capacities of rural women entrepreneurs in social and economic activities, services, transactions, trade and commerce with basic and value-added digital skills and training towards better access, use and benefit from digital resources and opportunities. Here is the journey shared by one of the trainers in helping to reach out to these women.
Neesha is one of the Women Entrepreneurs from Bharatpur, Rajasthan who trained under Digital Sarthak program and she shares her success story, “I was a mother, a housewife and someone who was trying to achieve more than what was expected of me. DEF gave me the opportunity to fill that hunger to do more than just be a wife. Now I’m an entrepreneur and confidently juggling it with living a happy and satisfied life. Some people would say that they would get tired but not me because it is my passion. This is something that I chose for myself, which excites me more than it tires me.
Willingness to do anything is the first thing that a woman should start from. People are riddled with the mentality that a woman should stay at home, look after the kids, look after the husband and the family and keep the house clean. These stereotypes are what we have to break to achieve something more valuable in life. I am a mother and I never thought that the duties I have as a mother and as a wife have hindered any of my ventures and I am confident in saying that they never will. I think that if one feels burdened, one must set to become stronger, faster and efficient to achieve what they have set out for.
I strive to create a personality not only for my peace of mind but to also show that I have a place as an individual in this society. Most people refer to a woman as the wife of the husband that they are married to. I want people to know me by my business as well as my achievements.
Life is one big challenge with a lot of small components working together to form every detail that makes it liveable. Getting tired, putting your hands up and surrendering to these challenges is not going to change anything. Not now or even for the future generation to come. That is the way in which life works. The principle of survival of the fittest is at play each time with life giving you every opportunity to better yourself. Each scar that you take home today makes you a stronger person tomorrow.
It does not take much thinking after you plan your actions out thoroughly. All you need to do is constantly strive to reach your goals and work hard until you can sit down and take a breath of satisfaction at your work. You have to believe in yourself.”
