My name is Saksham, and I am currently a 10th-grade student. While I excel in my academic pursuits, my proficiency in using computers has always been a challenge. Fortunately, the lessons we get in DigiLamp Centers on digital literacy have been impactful. I also got to learn a lot from our digital literacy teacher, Ms. Shivani Thakur.
She told us digital literacy extends beyond merely using computers or mobile devices. In today’s world, digital media has become ubiquitous – it’s all around us. Whether we’re scrolling through our phones or opening our laptops every morning, we are constantly immersed in the digital realm. This means that digital literacy skills are essential for any person who wants to succeed in today’s world.
With these sessions, we also understood that the internet is a vast digital landscape that children, like myself, must navigate safely. However, in my hometown of Bhanjal, I faced an issue where I became a victim of an online fraud call due to my lack of knowledge on how to protect myself online.
Fortunately, in our digital literacy lessons about online safety and security, we gained a profound understanding of scams and the tactics used by online predators. Now, I am equipped with the knowledge and skills to protect myself from such threats, ensuring a safer and more secure online experience for myself and others in my community.
